“Hmm….” he rested his head on hers and thought. “I am usually dancing, so it could have been anyone. Well,” he chuckled. “Not just anyone is as handsome as I am… er, was?” Naveen furrowed his brows. What did he really look like as a frog? He had seen his reflection a few times, but it was only in passing. Did he still look handsome? For a frog? The thought that he might not be worried him more that he felt it should. “Before I met the Shadow Man I met up with a jazz band and we walked around town. I did stop by a cafe. Duke’s or something,” he yawned and waved his hand in the air, not wanting to tell Tiana that he had tried to flirt with another women.

Tiana grinned. “I think you’re a very handsome frog,” She commented, kissing his cheek. “And Duke’s?! You don’t say! I used to work there! I was a waitress-” She snapped her fingers, laughing. “You were that dancing flirter? Well who woulda thought that! It’s like we foreshadowed our never-ending love!

“You mean, you… the waitress….” Naveen laughed and held her close. “Achidanza! What a coincidence, no? Too bad you shooed me away, or we could have gotten a lot closer sooner.” Naveen smiled and nuzzled into her shoulder.

Tiana smiled, wondering. Would that have been better? Could she have changed Naveen from his pompous rich-boy self if they’d stayed human? Something told her that no, nothing would have worked out- not as splendidly as it had. “Somethin’ tells me that it would have been an entirely different story if we’d stayed human. I don’t think it’d be as good as it is now.”

“Hmm… I do not know about that,” he whispered back, breathing heavy. Naveen looked deep into her eyes. He knew they were brown, but in the dark of the night they looked black. They were so deep, he felt like he would get lost in them. “Because I love you a lot.”

Tiana chuckled. “What part of ‘I love you more’ Don’t you get?” she teased, looking at him. He was so beautiful. She’d only seen him once as a human- in the paper, which wasn’t a very good edition or picture, and she thought she’d seen him dancing in the street. “Say, have I ever seen you human?” She asked, tapping her lip with her finger. It was suddenly gnawing at her mind. “You were dancin’, right? at the end of that one song, right?

“That is how I feel about you,” he cupped her face in his hand, stroking her cheek with his thumb. Naveen nuzzled against her softly. “You are the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. I love you so much, my darling.” He kissed her cheek softly. “My love,” he whispered, kissing the other cheek. “My Tiana.” Naveen smiled and kissed her full on the lips this time.

Tiana grinned under the kiss, kissing him back. She’d never been anyone’s before, and she was so,so, thankful that Naveen, the best man she’d ever met, had chosen her to be his. How did she get so lucky? Maybe…maybe you didn’t need to work hard (too hard, that is) to figure out that what you need…it can just fall into your lap. Of course, you need to be as lucky as she was.
“I can guarantee ,” She whispered when she took a breath. “That I love you much more.”

He frowned slightly and raised up a little to see her better. Hard? Tiana? Never. Not this sweet, caring, funny, lovable girl he had in his arms. But… well, when they first met she had put off his advances… and she had yelled at him a lot. But he had deserved everything she had given him. Tiana… she had a bit of a shell to crack through, but once you did you were rewarded with the greatest person anyone could know. “I do not believe you,” he told her, not unkindly. “You are more important than you know. Just look at all the people you have made happy since we met. Louis enjoys your food, Ray enjoyed your company.. and do not forget your friend Charlotte. Tiana, you make many people happy. But perhaps you have not seen it because you have been so…. focused on your dream.”

Tiana thought about his words and shrugged. “I-I guess you’re right, Naveen. I mean, I have met wonderful people ever since I kissed you that first time,” She chuckled at the memory. “And I was really focused on my dream. I didn’t really got out and have fun all the time. I’d be invited places- like dancing- and I’d turn them all down. I didn’t have any real friends. Until I met you, of course.” She smiled up at him. “You’re the most real thing in my life.”

Naveen sighed and rested his head on hers. He felt the butterflies return when she kissed him, and then once more when she called him sugar. It was so cute. “Yes,” he told her, and held the door open for her. “After you, lover.” Together, they settled down on the ground, safe in their shelter. Naveen wrapped his arms tight around Tiana and gave another blissful sigh, kissing her lightly before thinking about her question. “Well, no. I cannot really go back like this, can I?” he chuckled, kissing her again. “But, to be honest, I hadn’t really wanted to go back anyway. Maldonia never felt like home. Here, with you,” he gave her another squeeze, “I finally feel like I belong.”

Tiana sighed. “I wish you felt like you belonged all the time,” She told him, thinking. However, she did feel special that he felt..whole when he was with her. But again, she wanted him to feel whole and happy all the time. “I’m glad you’re happy now, though. I’m glad I…little ol’ me, could bring that to you.” She snuggled against him, grinning. “I’ve never been able to do that with anyone- bring them a kind of happiness like that. I’ve always been too busy- to hard.”

“Yes, yes! That is exactly what I try to tell them!” he grinned wide, jumping slightly. “They are just old fuddy duddies and are afraid of anything modern or different, which includes America, I am afraid,” Naveen sighed and shrugged. His arm found its way around Tiana once more and he gave her a slight squeeze. “Luckily I do not have that problem.”

“Luckily indeed!” She kissed his cheek. “And fuddy duddies? Well, that’s an interesting way to put it.” She smiled, nuzzling into his neck. “Well what’da’ya say we settle down for the night huh, sugar?” She smiled again, thinking. “Are you ever gonna go back to Maldonia?”

“Well, it is not really the expression as much as the fact that it comes from America,” he explained. “My family does not really approve of this county. They think it is too modern, and full of sinful things, like flappers and jazz.” Naveen hummed and swayed a little as he went to pick up the bark she had requested he get. He picked it up, or tried too. It was heavier than it looked. He laughed awkwardly in Tiana’s direction before lifting the bark with a grunt and bringing it over to their fort. He set it down with a sigh of relief and wiped his forehead. “There you are, my love.”

Tiana thanked him, positioning the bark as a very nice door. “Sinful things? Honey, if your parents think that, then they’ve never seen the real New Orleans.” She brought her sticks around to the back of the ‘house’ and tied them to the rock’s little cracks, making them fit nicely. “Jazz and flappers and the ‘sinful things’ are part of this place. It’s not a sin, though there are some questionable things. It’s soul.”

“Oh no,” he chuckled. “If my parents heard me say American slang they would be very upset with me. But I did learn about it before I came over here. America has always been fascinating to me, ever since I was a boy. Especially New Orleans.” Naveen came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her neck softly. “All finished?”

Tiana smiled. “That’s sad that you wouldn’t be able to express something you loved,” She commented. She couldn’t imagine having to hold back anything from her parents- they were always such an open, expressive family. Even after her Daddy had died, she and her mother had shared everything with each other.
She turned around, kissing him softly (and for a bit longer than she’d intended). “Yep! Almost, just making the final knots!” She pulled the sticks together, making a line of wood that would serve as a backing to their little hut. “The door is over there, could you grab it for me?” She asked, pointing towards a piece of bark she’d scavenged.

Looking at the stars was a very romantic idea, and something he could get behind. Besides, the sooner they were finished with this work, the sooner the could cuddle, and hopefully kiss some more. “That sounds swell,” he said, smiling dreamily at her. She looked very beautiful in the moonlight.

Tiana smiled, finishing her knots. “Is ‘swell’ a common term in Maldonia?” She asked, smirking at him. “Or did you pick it up while in New Orleans?”
